First week

We have had a really wonderful first week with Abigail, she has just fit right in and been so happy! Luke was a much fussier baby, and so we just hardly can believe how easy going Abby is - she rarely cries, and usually because she is hungry, she eats well (like her brother!) and has been getting some good stretches of sleep at night. She is so much fun to just hold and watch, this time passes so quickly so we are trying to enjoy each day with her while she is so little. Here are some pictures from our first week at home.
Enjoying her playmat

Getting sleepy....or hungry?

Our first friday night alone - we had movie night with the kids. It didn't last too long, but we had fun and enjoyed just hanging out as the 4 of us

Abby's first sponge bath - so far she does not take after mommy and enjoy baths! Maybe later on she will when she gets to relax in bubbles :-)

Much happier when bathtime is over!

Uncle Andy got to meet Abby on sunday - here he is now with his nephew and niece!

Grandma with Luke and Abby

Abby looks pretty happy in Granddad's arms!

PawPaw enjoying time with Abby (somehow I missed getting any pictures with Nana - sorry Debbie, Abby enjoyed you holding her too!)

Big Brother

I can't believe Abigail is a week old already, and it has been a wonderful week. I'll post more later about our week, but I wanted to devote this post to Abigail's big brother :-) Luke has been so great this week, he has been more interested in Abigail since we came home from the hospital, he has not been jealous at all and has been full of hugs and kisses for her. He has even shared (or tried to share!) some of his most prized posessions....his stickers, his paci (don't tell anyone we still let Luke have his paci when he sleeps!) and even his food. When I told Luke this morning that Abby was hungry, he tried to put a piece of cereal in her mouth. While I obviously couldn't let him do this, it was so sweet that he wanted to help take care of her. I look forward to many years of seeing Luke and Abigail play together and love each other, and I would say we are off to a great start.

Abigail is here!

Abigail was born on Friday September 18th at 9:13 a.m. She weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long. She is so beautiful and we are so excited to have her in our arms now! We got home from the hospital this morning and are enjoying being a family of 4 now.

Mommy is already enjoying dressing Abigail in girly colors and hair bows!

I had a wonderful and short labor after being induced friday morning. Abigail arrived so quickly, our families didn't even make it the hospital before she arrived (they had been waiting at the house with Luke until we gave word that she was coming soon). Apparently my children like to make their entrance into the world very quickly!

Everyone has wanted to know what Luke thinks....we aren't quite sure yet! Some moments he is very sweet and gives her kisses, but most of the time he is just oblivious to the fact she is here. Of course, he is also receiving lots of attention from all of his grandparents so we'll see what he thinks when they are gone and it is just the four of us.

Luke admiring his baby sister and .....
also pointing out and naming her body parts :-)

Daddy and his baby girl!

I'm really not sure if Luke even noticed that Vic and I weren't at home with him while we were in the hospital. I finally got him to come sit by me, and only because he was watching cartoons!

After Luke met Abigail, he picked out a present for her. I'm sure she will love it :-)

Getting ready to go home, and more fun with hair bows!

Abigail was very excited to go home :-)

Abigail arriving tomorrow!

Well one way or the other, we should be meeting our baby girl tomorrow, yea! I will be going to the hospital bright and early at 4:00 a.m. to get the induction started, unless she chooses to come before then, she still has a few more hours to do this voluntarily :-) We'll post pictures after she arrives!

Getting ready for Abigail!

As you may notice, I actually changed the layout of the blog for the first time ever, yea! I had more than one person point out that the title ("Luke's baby page") and the pictures on the side bar were seriously outdated. So in preparation for Abby, I though the blog needed a new do! I am still working on a few details I can't figure out.
I never took a single picture of my belly while I was pregnant with Luke, so I thought I would take just one with this pregnancy, and I didn't want it to be one of me at 2:00 in the morning when I go into labor! So this is me at 39 weeks and waiting! I go to the doctor thursday and am planning on being induced this friday if she has not arrived by then, so we should have our baby girl one way or the other by the end of the week, we can't wait!!
Finally, you know you need to get this baby out when Luke does the following.....last sunday, when I opened Luke's door in the morning after he woke up, the first thing he did was point at my belly and say "MOOO!!!!".....I was mortified. I think this was actually because I had a big Eeyore on my shirt and that's the noise he thinks that Eeyore makes, but regardless, no pregnant woman want to be mooed at.

It's a dragon!

We took Luke to pick out his halloween costume and he picked out this dragon....we figured we may as well get it early so he can get some use out of it! Luke has just recently really gotten into dressing up (he loves wearing his pirate and fireman hats), so hopefully this will keep him entertained for awhile.
This is Luke admiring himself as a dragon the bathroom mirror!

In other news, Luke and I had our first conversation this morning as we were driving by the park....I realize this is neither interesting or humorous, but I am recording this for my own benefit because I was so excited!

Me: Luke, what are those?
Luke: Ducks!
Me: What do they say?
Luke: Quack, quack!
Me: And what do ducks like to eat?
Luke: Bread!

Labor Day

We have been going to the park almost every day now that it is a little cooler in the evenings, but yesterday we went at lunch time and had a picnic and fed the ducks before playing on the playground. Luke had lots of fun, pictures don't capture how tickled he got feeding the ducks - he thought it was funny when they tried to take the bread out of his hand. We kept trying to get Luke to throw the bread, but those ducks are fast! If you don't throw it, they just grab it right from you, which Luke thought was hilarious....ahh, the things that amuse a 2 year old!

First Day of School!!

I cannot believe Luke started school today! He had a great time, he was excited to go and ran right in when we got there. I got a great report when I picked him up, he even participated and brought home a cute craft. I asked Luke if he wanted to go back to school and I got a very enthusiastic response, thank goodness! As for me, I missed him a lot and wondered the whole time what he was doing, but it was nice to have time to myself, which I will enjoy as much as I can before Abigail comes! Here are some pictures from this morning.

Luke and Daddy, we appreciate Daddy making special time today to take Luke to school!

Luke and Trinity before going to their classrooms

Luke ran right in!

On a side note, one of the things I did today while Luke was at school was go to the doctor. Apparently Abigail is very comfortable where she is, she has not moved anywhere and frankly, I am tired of getting the same report each week :-) Oh well, she'll come out eventually and we still have 2 weeks before she is due, but we are getting really excited to meet her!

Meet the teacher!

Luke and I went to meet his preschool teachers this morning. They were both very nice and I just hope they are ready for Luke! Luke walked right into the room and started investigating all the toys, he didn't want to leave so I think it met his approval! Thursday is the big day - Luke's first day of school! I think he will have lots of fun :-)
This was the best picture I could get before we left, he was not screaming, this is actually his happy "say cheese" face. I will try for a better picture on thursday!

I could hardly even introduce Luke to his two teachers, he ran right past them to check out the toys!

After we met his teachers, I took Luke to McDonalds to play. We have only been once before and it was a different location....he apparently had never seen Ronald McDonald because Luke was fascinated with him! He enjoyed talking to Ronald more than playing on the playground...go figure?
