My little helper

Some days Luke is really a good little helper, he loves the washer and dryer and actually can be quite helpful in taking clothes out of the dryer for me. Other days, he is not quite as helpful....today seems to be one of those days.

Trip to the Oil Ranch

We took a field trip out to the Oil Ranch with our MOPS group today and we had a blast! There were so many fun things to do, Luke of course loves anything having to do with animals. Thanks Grandma for going with us!

Luke loves petting zoos.....the best part was the way he yelled "BAAA!!!" back at the sheep when they talked to him :-)

Luke had his very first pony ride! He definitely needed me to help him stay on, but he enjoyed petting the horse as he rode and yelling "Neigh!!"


We could hardly get Luke out of the petting zoo area, here he is looking at chickens, which he yelled "Cacaca" (for cockadoodledoo of course!) Do you see a theme for the day? Luke may not say many words, but he sure can tell you what sound the animals make :-)

We had several firsts today and I think Luke's favorite was his very first snowcone....yummy!!

Luke really loved the jumpy thing, we had a hard time getting him out of this too!

Playing in the sand

I have been really bad about not taking pictures lately, which is why I haven't been blogging very much. Luke is just too busy for me to stop and pull out the camera! We had a really nice Easter weekend, we relaxed a lot, played in Luke's new sandbox that Nana and PaPa bought him and got to see all of Luke's grandparents. This past week we enjoyed the beautiful weather by playing a lot outside, going to playgroup, the park and the zoo. We are enjoying this before it is too hot to go outside! Here are a couple pictures from the week.

Luke didn't mind sitting in his sandbox, but he did not like the sand getting on his feet....odd, since he has never seemed to mind getting dirty before!!

He got over that and enjoyed playing with his toys in the sand :-)


Luke seems to know where the baby is and last night we asked him if he wanted to hug the baby, it was so cute!! We just hope he is this loving and gentle to the baby when he or she actually arrives!! (I have a feeling that is going to be a lot different!)

Easter egg hunts and 21 month update

Luke has been very busy lately, he had his first overnight trip to Nana and PaPa's this weekend and two easter egg hunts. And he turned 21 months yesterday, so hard to believe that he will be 2 in just 3 months! Luke is changing a lot, he has started saying some new words (mainly cartoon character names!) and has some new interests. His main new hobby is climbing on anything and everything, he is a little monkey! His favorite place to sit is on top of the end table in our living room, I find him perched there several times a day. Luke also has developed his hobby of taking things apart (unfortunately not putting them back together!), his favorite things to take apart are the vacuum cleaner, remote controls and the air conditioning unit in the sun room. As you can tell, this has made my life much busier as well! Luke continues to love cartoons and the only people's names he says on his own are "Man" for handy manny, "Chuck" for ChuckECheese and "Bob" for sponge bob, ironic since we have never let him watch spongebob??

The pictures are from the egg hunts Luke went to this weekend, one for our young adult sunday school classes and one for MOPS. Luke was interested in putting a few eggs in his basket, but then just wanted to take those out and open them, we had a hard time getting him to collect all 12 he was supposed to! (I doubt this will be a problem by next year). I have to brag on Vic, he took Luke to the first egg hunt all by himself b/c I was at handbell practice and he even took some cute pictures, what a great dad!!

(These are all from the sunday school egg hunt, I did not get any good pictures of Luke from the MOPS one because Luke spent the whole time climbing on the stage in the church gym to get to the fire alarm and touch it! Fortunately he never set it off, that would have definitely disrupted our egg hunt!)

Trip to Atlanta

We have had a big week, it was Luke's first plane trip!! Vic had a work conference in Atlanta this week, so Luke and I tagged along for fun. We had a great time and it was nice to get away and see some fun new things. Luke did really well on the trip, even on the returning flight that ended up being a 6 hour trip on the plane instead of 2! (thanks to thunderstorms in houston that prevented us from landing and rerouted our trip - exactly what I had feared most!!) Even though Daddy was working, we still had lots of time to see him and we are glad he took us with him! Here are some pictures from the week.

We went to the Georgia Aquarium and it was fantastic! Luke's favorite was seeing this thing, we couldn't drag him away from it after the picture :-)

My personal favorite outing in Atlanta was to the World of Coca Cola!! I love coke and it was super fun to see how it is made, the highlight of the tour was tasting all sorts of coke drinks from around the world. Luke enjoyed it too!!

Oops, was I not supposed to let him try the alcoholic ones??? Just kidding :-)

These pictures are from the children's museum in Atlanta, Luke enjoyed "fishing" and also playing in the sandboxes.

Our hotel overlooked the Centennial Park, which I think was built for the olympics when they were held in Atlanta. They were several playgrounds that Luke had lots of fun on.

Luke's favorite thing in all of Atlanta was the fountain in the shape of the olympic rings. The fountain has shows at certain times of the day and here is Luke watching the show with Daddy.

Poor Luke, he went inside the rings of water when they weren't shooting water, I don't think he realized when they all came on that he would be stuck inside!!! He eventually got out when the water went down again, but it was very entertaining :-)

Rodeo

We took Luke to the rodeo last week and we all had a great time. I am not sure which Luke enjoyed more....the food (especially the funnel cake!) or the animals! Luke absolutely loves to pet animals, so the petting zoo was definitely the biggest hit. He wasn't very impressed with the other animals, especially the ones that just were laying around inside fenced areas, he likes to be able to chase them! Luke did pretty well considering it was at night, we got to watch a little of the actual rodeo and left before the concert, but was also had fun hanging out with the friends we went with (and thank you to them for the free tickets they gave us!). I am really glad we took Luke, here are a few pictures :-)

Luke was really excited to pet the rabbit and this thing (guinea pig/hamster??), which by the way, none of these animals will ever be coming to our house!!

Luke loved to pet this poor animal's ear because when he did, the ear started twitching and Luke thought it was hilarious, I have never seen him laugh so hard! :-)

Luke loves to give hugs....We don't think the animals enjoyed the hugs as much as Luke did though :-)

Zoo trip

Last saturday, the young adult sunday school classes at our church made a trip to the zoo. We actually hadn't been in a while and we had lots of fun. Luke has really been into making animal sounds lately, so it was fun to see the real animals! His favorite animal and sound to make is the elephant, it is too cute :-) Here are a couple pictures from the day...

You can't really tell from the picture, but Luke is actually crawling in a tunnel that goes through the water. I was surprised he went through, and once he did, he just wanted to keep going again!

Trinity tried to keep Luke in line, but notice Luke seems more intestested in the stick in his other hand!
