My aunt and uncle live in San Antonio, so my Aunt Mary was nice enough to hang out with us while Vic was working. We took the kids to a really huge inflatables place....he loved sliding down the big slide! And it was a big help to have someone hold Abby while I chased Luke!
Fortunately, we had further reinforcements later in the week, my parents came and stayed in the same hotel as us for the second half of our trip. Notice Luke's gun in the picture....being the fantastic parents that Vic and I are, we took one look at the line of people to walk through the Alamo and decided that a trip through the gift store and buying Luke an age inappropriate toy (the gun said it was for children over 5), was just as good. We decided that we don't remember enough about Texas history to try to explain the Alamo to Luke anyways, so we will leave this to his 7th grade history teacher. If this doesn't win us "parents of the year" award, I don't know what will.
Since San Antonio was completely packed over spring break, and you could hardly get near the river, and we couldn't even get off the freeway to get close to the zoo, we tried the children's museum and it was awesome! It was perfect for Luke's age, and he enjoyed everything from playing in an airplane, to riding in a frontloader simulator that moved rocks, to a bubbles/water exhibit and of course the grocery store.
We also enjoyed lots of yummy food, you know how Luke loves Mexican food!!
And Abby celebrated her 6 month birthday!! She did great the whole trip, she seemed to enjoy all the action and was happy wherever we took her. We go to the doctor next week for her check-up, so I'll post more about her then.
