Happy Halloween!

Luke had a fun halloween, it was his first time to go trick-or-treating and he definitely liked that! We took him first to the carnival at our church and he was great at playing the games....and he figured out pretty quickly that he got candy as a treat for playing. Then we came home and went out trick-or-treating. We went to our next door neighbors first and Luke didn't quite get it - he kept trying to go into their house, I don't think he ever really understood tonight why we would just go to someone's door and not go in! Luke actually seemed to have more fun coming back home and answering the door when people came....although he tried a few times to leave with them. Abby had a fun evening too hanging out with her grandparents (thanks mom and dad!) while we were gone, it's hard to imagine that next year she'll be running around with Luke! Here are some pictures....

This was the only picture I got of Luke with his whole costume on, he spent the majority of the evening as a half-dragon :-)

Luke was great at all the games, I was actually surprised he was patient enough to play without just trying to grab the candy!

Luke always wants to go in the library/book store at our church, which happened to be in the middle of the hallway where the games were...so he spent half of our time at the carnival in there reading books.

Here we are waiting at the door for Luke's first time to trick-or-treat!

And he is off and running with the candy!!

Luke and Daddy ready with the candy

In between kids coming to our door, Luke amused himself by kicking his pumpkin around the floor....with his dragon feet

Luke's first school party

Today was the much anticipated halloween party at Luke's school (anticipated by me that is, I have been dying to see how he acts at school!). They played a game and had snacks, it was lots of fun! Luke refused to wear the top half of his costume, so he just had dragon legs :-) Here are some pictures....
Here is Luke with his teacher playing pass the pumpkin, except that Luke was the only one that threw the pumpkin instead of passing it....every time Luke had the pumpkin, I shouted "GENTLE!" and prayed that the pumpkin didn't hit the girl he was passing to in the face.

Here was Luke dancing to music at the party!

Luke and mommy enjoying the party :-)

Yummy cookies!

This is Luke with one of his friends from another class, I can't really explain what he was doing here??

Milestones!

Abigail has already had a big week. After wiggling around too much in her cradle, we moved her to her own room in her crib for the first time this week. So far, she seems to really like it and has been sleeping great, only waking up once during the night, hooray! And yesterday, she smiled at me! I thought at first it was an accident, but it happened 3 times, so it counts :-) She is so cute and it is so much fun to experience these milestones with a new baby.
For some reason, Luke just loves Abby's crib, this was him the other day, amused by the cupcake on her pajamas :-)

This week

Things went much smoother this week than last week, and I think we are all back to normal and healthy again - we hope it stays that way! We took our first family outing today, it is hard to believe Abby is 5 weeks old and this was the first time all 4 of us left the house together! We went to the park and Abby pretty much slept the whole time. Luke had lots of fun and we have been enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend. Here are some pictures :-)

It was also my first time to use the double stroller....and after about 5 minutes, I decided it was too heavy and let Vic take over. Luke seemed to like being able to see Abby though!

Happy 1 month birthday Abigail!

Wow, Abigail is already 1 month old....time is flying by too fast!! She has already changed so much, she is nearly 8 pounds now and is much more awake. She likes to look around, she seems especially interested in Luke (and who wouldn't be - 2 year olds are constant entertainment!), she is sleeping a couple good stretches at night and eating about every 3 hours. We are having so much fun with her!! Here are a couple pictures from today.

We have had a very crazy last couple of weeks, so I have lots to catch up on. Unfortunately, this has mainly been due to illness. Luke was sick with a cold, croup and ear infections 2 weeks ago, and apparently we all got something from him. Last sunday, Abby became sick, and after taking her to an 24 hour emergency clinic, she had a fever, which is very serious in newborns and they transported her to Texas Children's hospital. We spent from sunday night until wednesday in the hospital with her as they ran tests. This was a very scary time for us and we are so thankful that she is home and seems to be ok now. The final diagnosis was that is was probably a viral infection (likely a cold she got from Luke) after all of the tests done in the hospital turned out negative. We are also so thankful to our parents for all of their help last week with Luke so that we could stay with Abby in the hospital!!
Right before all of that happened, we had a very important milestone in the family.....Vic turned 30!!!! We had a fun time celebrating with our family and they even let us escape for a lunch out by ourselves. Luke and I had a lot of fun making some birthday crafts for Daddy, which he is showing off here...

Also on Vic's birthday, we had a pumpkin patch at our church. Vic took Luke to pick out a pumpkin, here he is checking them all out and then with his final selection :-)

And finally, a random picture capturing Luke's favorite activity - standing inside the fridge for a very long time debating what he would like to eat. He thinks very hard about this and always comes up with something specific :-) I really am afraid of how much this boy will eat when he becomes a teenager!!

2 weeks and growing!

Abigail had her 2 week check-up this past Friday, she did great! I thought it would be easier with the second child to handle watching terrible things like a shot and heel prick - I was wrong, I almost cried :-( But she did great, and she is definitely growing! She weighed right at 7 lbs. (25th %) and was 20 inches long (50th %). We are continuing to have so much fun with her and Luke!! (and as you can see, I am still enjoying the novelty of hair bows!)

First Aggie Game

Abigail got to see her first A&M football game on TV last night. We asked her what she thought of the aggies performance, here is what she said.....

We agree with Abigail!
