Big weekend!

We have done a lot of new things today - most importantly, we took Luke for a haircut! You know he needs a haircut when it is long enough to try using a curling iron on....

We have attempted a haircut twice before with no success, so today we took him to a kids place called Snip-its....much more fun and exciting for a 2 year old!

The before....

Cartoons and lollipops helped!

As you can tell, Luke wasn't too thrilled about the end result, but we were!

It was also a big day for Abigail, it was her first time to sit in the high chair and eat rice cereal!! She did great, she seemed to enjoy sitting up in the highchair and seeing what was going on at dinner time :-)

Not so sure about this after all....

All smiles in the end!

We also got out the exersaucer for the first time which she seemed to like it too. It is just hard to believe she is old enough for these new things today!!

4 month update

I post this mainly for myself so I can look back and see how big Abby was at certain ages....I took her for her 4 month check-up today and she was 13 lbs. 8 oz (50th %) and a little over 25 inches (75-90th%). To compare, Luke was almost 17 lbs at this age! She got the go ahead for rice cereal (I won't tell her that I think rice cereal is disgusting), so we'll see how that goes. Here are a couple random pictures from the week. Clearly, we need to rake our yard and give Luke a haircut!!

Happy 4 month birthday Abigail!

I wish I could freeze time right now, Abigail is at that wonderful cute stage where she sleeps great, is interacting with us more, but doesn't move or get into trouble yet! She has changed a lot just in the last month. Abby loves to sit up and look around, she doesn't want to miss any of the action (and with a big brother like Luke, there is always action!). She now reaches out for anything that is within her grasp, and she especially likes to hold her baby dolls :-) Abby is on a little more consistent schedule and actually taking several naps a day in her crib. It is so cute to see Luke interact with her a little more, he knows Abigail has her own toys, so he often brings them to her so she has something to hold. We are so blessed to have her, happy 4 month birthday Abigail!!!

Just for comparison, her is Luke at 4 months!

Big helper!

Today Luke has been particularly sweet to Abby, giving her lots of kisses and hugs. But I guess he decided that Abby was stinky because all the sudden when we were all sitting on the sofa, he ran and got one of her diapers, came back and started undressing her! He was a really good helper, until I actually opened Abby's dirty diaper and then he ran away (I wish I could too sometimes!)

It came....

Unfortunately my 30th birthday came today and I am not too happy about it, but who could be sad for long when I have these two wonderful munchkins to keep me young???

To make myself feel better about the new decade I have entered, I have made a list of things I have now at 30 that I did not have at 20....

1) a fantastic husband that I only dreamed about at 20!

2) 2 beautiful children (hard to tell from this picture!)

3) a college degree

4) a home (much better than the dorm room I lived in at 20)

5) a wonderful church family

6) close friends I have made as an "adult" but also more years with friends I knew at 20

7) actual money in the bank, not just aggiebucks

8) an interest in sports other than figure skating and gymnastics

9) a greater appreciation for my parents since becoming one myself (this will probably come as a surprise to them)

10) a few gray hairs, but about 10 less pounds - woohoo!
