Busy day

We have had a fun saturday with Luke, we took him to our neighborhood pool for the first time this year and he loved it! Grandma and Nana had stocked him up with pool toys, and he spent the whole time in the toddler pool playing with them. Unfortunately for Vic and me, Luke had no interest in the regular pool, so it looks like we will be spending our summer in 2 feet of water.

This evening, the young adults at our church had a picture scavenger hunt and we went all around Sugar Land collecting photos of random things. Luke was a big help, and while we didn't win, we didn't come in last either!

We had to have a picture with a police car - Vic was pretty proud of himself for being able to actually get in the car!

We needed a picture of something representing historic Sugar Land - what's better than the sugar mill??

We needed a picture of an animal other than a dog or duck.....so we went by Vic's coworkers house who had a bunny - perfect!

This was our "creative action shot"!!

"Cheese!!"

I haven't been able to get a picture of Luke looking at the camera and smiling in about 12 months, so I had to post these. For some reason, Luke decided today he wanted to smile and yell "Cheese!" at the camera. He also is apparently expecting a cold front and pulled his winter hat out of his dresser and wanted to wear it all afternoon. We didn't have the heart to tell him he won't need that for at least 6 months at best!!

Fun with friends!

We spent a few days this week with my parents while Vic was traveling, and one of those days we spent with our friends Jessica and Sterling. The boys had lots of fun together as usual, they played outside on Sterling's new swingset and then before we could even get their clothes off, they jumped right into the pool we filled up! They are definitely busy, it takes the both of us to keep up with the 2 of them, I don't know what Jessica and I are going to do when we are outnumbered 4 to 1 in a few months when our new babies come!

Fun in the pool!

Whatever one of them has, the other wants too!

Poor Sterling, he just wanted to watch "George" in peace, and Luke kept hitting and kicking him, so Luke has to get his own seat....

And of course, no trip to Grandma's is complete without going to Luke's favorite (and Grandma's!), ChuckECheese!!!

Outdoor fun!

Well we decided since every time we walk or even drive by a park or playground, Luke chants "park, park , park!!", that he needed his own swingset in the backyard. So two adults (Vic and his dad) and 10 hours later, we have one!! Luke loves it and we could hardly drag him inside today after church because he wanted to keep playing outside. We hope Luke (and Abby!) will have many fun years of playing on it and a big thank you to PaPa for helping build it!!

The final product!

Luke loves the swing, I think this is the only place he will sit still!

Perfect for my little climber

Whoa, it's high up here!

Sock Puppets

Since Luke is approaching two and spends most of his time doing one of a couple activities - either banging on something or climbing on something - I decided maybe we should start trying some more directed activities. This is difficult because he eats everything (crayons, playdough) so I thought today we would try some more crafty things. So we went to hobby lobby and bought some craft materials and got to work. Today's activity was sock puppets! While I was in charge of the glue, Luke did help pick out colors and materials. He thought it was very funny to try them on afterwards, for about 2 minutes, then he decided the puppets actually serve a better purpose - something to wipe his nose on. Had I known this, I would have saved myself some time and money and given him some kleenex to play with :-)

Big week!

First of all, happy mother's day! I especially hope my mom, mother-in-law and all of my mommy friends are having a wonderful day! Luke has been very sweet to me today, I have received many hugs and kisses - I don't know what Vic told him, but we need to have this day more often!

We had a big week last week! I think we have already told everyone we know (and some people we don't!) that we are having a baby girl!! I am so excited, I couldn't even believe it when the lady told me our son was going to have a little sister. Everything on the ultrasound looked great and is developing properly and we are so thankful for that. A lot of people have asked about names, and we are sticking with our original girl name that we had picked out before we knew that Luke was a boy, and we are going to name her Abigail. We have been trying all week to get Luke to say "Abby", no luck yet, but we have 4 more months to work on that!

At the end of the week, we took a family trip to San Antonio along with all of Luke's grandparents. We had a great time going to the riverwalk, eating lots of mexican food (Luke and Daddy's favorite!) and then going to Sea World! It was super hot, but we had a great time and I think Luke really had fun....he has been carrying around his little shamu ever since we got home :-) Here are some pictures from our week....
Luke loved having his picture taken with Shamu!
Luke pointing out the penguins
Luke watching the Shamu show, he actually did really well watching the shows. It definitely helped that he had 6 people's laps to choose sitting in though!

Luke loved being serenaded by the mariachi band!

My little helper

Some days Luke is really a good little helper, he loves the washer and dryer and actually can be quite helpful in taking clothes out of the dryer for me. Other days, he is not quite as helpful....today seems to be one of those days.
