Transition time

We have been thinking about how we are going to move Luke to a "big boy bed" in the next couple of months before the baby comes, because we were not planning on buying a second crib, which meant Luke has to get out of it before september! So last night, we started the transition by changing Luke's crib into a toddler bed (basically just took the front off of it). We were very apprehensive about this since he is not a child to just stay in one place! It definitely got off to a rocky start as you can see from the pictures....

At first Luke seemed to like the new arrangement....

About 5 seconds later (as we expected), Luke climbed right out of it...

And 5 seconds after that, he began dismantling the crib!! (which we were not expecting!!) I think if Luke had a screwdriver, he would have done far more than just remove the mattress. At this point, Vic and I thought we had made a huge mistake.

In the end, when it actually came to bedtime, he cried at the gate for a few minutes (we put a gate on the doorway of his room), but eventually went back to his crib and went to sleep. He woke up a couple times and got out of his bed once, but spent the whole night in his crib, and he is currently asleep for a nap right now. Yea! Vic and I are are not as stupid as we thought we were last night! :-)

I was totally cracking up that he took the mattress off the bed. I hesitated to show Noelle the pictures, since she still lays in bed and waits until we come get her. :-) I'm afraid of what we are in for with the next one...

I still can't believe he took it apart. I'm letting you test it all out before we try anything on Sterling the climber!
