Entertainment this week

When I occasionally (or sometimes daily!) get frustrated with a wild 2 year old boy and a 5 month baby that I can't be away from for more than a couple hours, I remind myself how I will someday look back on these days as being so much fun! And also, it won't be long before my kids want things like cell phones and cars, instead of just being entertained with dirt and bubbles...

or really nothing at all, in Abby's case!

And if all else fails, a trip to the zoo always helps!!!

5 months and trip away

Abby turned 5 months old today! Her favorite activities this month are playing with her feet and rolling over as soon as she is on her tummy :-)

We went and stayed a couple days this week at Grandma's house while Vic has been out of town. This was Abby's first time spending the night away from home and she did great! We also got a chance to visit Uncle Matt and Aunt Malissia, they live in a house on the property of an equestrian center where Malissia works. In addition to all the horses, Uncle Matt has 2 dogs and a cat.....this was total entertainment for my little animal lover, Luke. It was better than going to the zoo!
Luke saying hi to Sam

Luke loved feeding carrots to one of Malissia's horses. This was perfect timing since out of the blue that morning, Luke had been asking repeatedly to go feed the ducks

We put Luke up on top of Malissia's horse, but he didn't seem that impressed....he doesn't like to be on anything that moves!

Valentine's Day festivities

It just occurred to me that Luke has no idea what valentine's day is, except that he knows it has something to do with hearts and lots of candy!! We had a mops playgroup monday where we decorated cookies, we made our own crafts at home for Luke's grandparents, and then his school party was today. It has been a fun week with lots of sugar, here are some pictures...
Decorating cookies at our MOPS playdate, this is the only kind of smile I can get out of Luke these days!

Abby was too little to decorate cookies, but enjoyed the playdate anyways :-)

Making valentine cards at home
**Note to parents - there is a reason that glitter glue is such a great invention - when the glitter is already mixed in with the glue, there is much less mess than when glue and glitter are used separately!!! But as you can tell, Luke enjoyed his first experience with real glue and glitter!!

Abby is starting to enjoy some of the toys she received at Christmas, like her teapot and teacups!

Valentine party at school - Luke was very serious about decorating his cupcake

And then he enjoyed eating it!

Luke's parties are always interesting, I go half with excitement and half with dread at what he is going to do...today was no exception. The game was to throw the inflatable heart over the arrows (like a ring toss). While the other kids were nicely waiting in line for their turn, Luke kept stealing the arrows and bringing them to me, and then he stole the kids prizes they received for playing. And when it was finally his turn, instead of gently tossing the heart, he was BEATING it on the groung repeatedly like he was trying to kill something. I really don't know where he gets this crazy side. Oh well, he enjoyed the game!

Last week

We had a busy week last week, and the kids seemed particularly wild. Yes, even Abby.....she rolled over for the first time last wednesday and likes to scoot herself backwards when she is laying on her back. And Luke's favorite activity this week was jumping/somersaulting off furniture. He is practicing to be a future olympian in either gymnastics or diving. Here are some pictures....

These are from playing with Sterling and Kate....I think it's funny how Abby and Kate look so innocent and sweet compared to their big brothers who look a little more mischievous! (if you're wondering why Luke doesn't have pants on, it's because they were in the dryer after he dumped the dog's bowl of water on him!)

Here are a couple pictures from a baby shower I helped host this weekend. We were SO excited to have a baby shower for our friend Casey. Her little boy Aaron will be born soon and Abby can't wait to play with him! Abby came with me to the shower, here is us getting ready to go.
