Fun day at the zoo

We had a fun outing to the zoo today with Jessica and Sterling. Outings are much more fun now that both boys are running around. Unfortunately, they don't tend to run in the same direction, so we did a lot of chasing! I don't think the boys cared too much about the animals, but they definitely had fun and it was a beautiful day to enjoy being outside. Here are some pictures:

We didn't get too many pictures of the boys confined in their stroller/car because this didn't last long before they wanted out!

Sterling's car turned out to be the most popular item of the day, and the boys fought over it on several occasions, including our first shoving incident in which Luke just shoved Sterling out of it onto the ground. Sorry Sterling!!

Lukes loves petting animals, he seemed to especially enjoy this animal, it even acted like it was hugging Luke!

While Luke really enjoyed the petting zoo and touching the animals, as you can see, Sterling did not seem so impressed!! :-)

Both of the boys enjoyed climbing on the playgrounds in the children's Zoo area. This meant the mommies had to climb in after them to make sure they didn't fall. Let's just say that these slides/tunnels are not made for people my size to be comfortably climbing through!

We enjoyed a yummy picnic lunch before heading home and both of the boys sat nicely on the ground and ate their food. But as soon as they were finished eating, they ran off!

You know you are getting older when.....

Vic, Luke and I had a really fun trip to College Station today. We visited Uncle Andy and had fun eating at our favorite places and walking around campus. We already feel old walking around campus having a child with us, but this really took the cake. We were on an elevator and Vic asked the girl (college student) in the elevator with us if she was getting off on the same floor as us, and she replied "Yes sir"!....Vic was appalled that someone referred to him as a "sir", and of course my brother and I gave him a hard time about this the rest of the day. Oh well, when I was in college, I thought people married with kids were old too. Here are a couple pictures from today...

Luke LOVES water, and he spent a long time trying to figure out a way to get into the fountain, fortunately, he did not succeed!

15 month update

Luke turned 15 months a couple weeks ago (on the 6th), but I never posted an official update, so here it is.....Luke weighs almost 27 pounds (75th percentile) and is 32 inches tall (also 75th percentile). The biggest change in the last few weeks has been going from a beginning walker to running everywhere! I am amazed at how Luke never stops moving, unless he is eating or sleeping (and sometimes he tries to eat while running around!). Luke has discovered a love for the outdoors, he didn't get that from mama! Luke stands at the backdoor every day crying to go outside. When he gets outside, he wanders all over, loves to touch the grass and really likes to try eating leaves and dirt. I look forward to when he can play outside without putting lots of gross things into his mouth! Luke still just says a few words, he mainly gets his point across with his squealing and pointing :-) My favorite development has been that Luke has started to really play games with us and with other kids too. He loves to hide things and then shrug his shoulders to ask us where the item has gone, it's adorable! The other day he was playing peek-a-boo with a friend, they stood on opposite ends of a wall and kept going from one side to the other to hide from each other, then when they found each other, the laughed....it was the cutest thing I have ever seen!! Well, that's about all for now, I'll have more exciting things going on soon, we have plans in the next week to go to college station and the zoo, so I'll post pictures after those events.

Birthday weekend!

I am a couple days late in wishing Vic a happy 29th birthday (on the 10th), but we had a great weekend celebrating. We had a nice date by ourselves on his birthday and then celebrated with our families yesterday both for his birthday and his mom's, which is tomorrow. Luke was very interested in helping open presents, he didn't understand they weren't for him!

Field trip to the farm!

Today was a big day, it was Luke's first official field trip! We went with our MOPS group to Dewberry Farms and we had a blast! It was a beautiful day, and Luke enjoyed riding on tractors, petting animals, climbing on the hay and picking out a pumpkin. I had been looking forward to this all year because Luke was too young to go last year. Grandma Jan joined us well, she even was asking our social coordinator is she was planning any other field trips that she could join us again on! Luke's favorite was definitely trying to feed and touch the goats and the baby chicks. We had to be careful with the goat food because Luke of course wanted to eat that himself :-) Here are some pictures.

Luke loved riding the tractor, he is such a big boy!

Luke trying to pet the goats....poor goats, they didn't want to be pet, they wanted to be fed!!

Luke reaching in for the baby chicks, this was my favorite :-)

Luke and mommy sliding down the slide....not comfortable, mommy only did that once!

Luke loves books!

For those of you that spend any time around Luke at all, you know that he loves books. Luke likes playing with toys, but he can spend a long time just sitting and "reading" his books. He has a container that has his favorite books, and as soon as I put it back on the shelf, he cries for me to get it down. This was just so cute today that I had to take a picture. He apparently removed enough books to have room to crawl in and sit down to do his reading :-)

Luke and I have spent the last couple of days with Vic's parents while Vic is out of town for work. We had lots of fun with Nana and PawPaw, Luke showed off his improving walking skills. It is amazing how just in the past few days Luke has gone from occasionally taking a couple steps to walking all the time now. Last night he was walking so fast, it almost looked like he was running! Whoa, I am not ready for this! Here are some pictures :-)
