Vic's trip to Canada

A couple weeks ago, Vic spent a week practically at the north pole (it was actually at Norman Wells, in the Northwest Territory of Canada). While he was gone, Luke and I had lots of fun with both of our families. Luke saw his first movie in the theater with Grandma, he got to swim and and go to a bouncy place with Nana and PawPaw....and I just loved having a week of no cleaning or cooking and was even treated to a pedicure (thanks Debbie!). I don't know if Vic had as much fun as we did, but here are pictures I liked the best :-)

Daddy in his cool work gear - I'm glad he doesn't dress like this on a regular basis!

Vic did get to have some fun while there, they took a long hiking and canooing trip, the scenery looks really pretty!

How nice, a big bear joined them on their canooing trip!

They saw lots of bears and various other wild animals while there, I guess these bears know where to go for food!

I don't know which is more scary - this picture of Vic or the bears above! Long story, but Vic had to shave part of his facial hair while he was gone because it is a safety hazard (in case of a chemical spill, respirators would need to fit closely to the face....fabulous). As you can see, Vic was less than thrilled about this. And don't worry, he did shave off the mustache as well before he got home, and it is all growing back now!

Family Movie Might

We decided we would try out having a family movie night this weekend. So we spread blankets down on the floor to get ready. At first Luke didn't get it.....I think he thought we were playing some new twist on hide-n-go seek! But once we got the popcorn and the movie started, he really enjoyed it! It was a fun way to spend time together :-)

Baby Abigail

I had my 32 week check-up this week and I had quite a surprise (and not the good kind) at the doctor. I saw a different doctor in the practice, and as he was looking over my chart, he looked at the information sent over from my 20 week ultrasound (which was done at a different location) and asked if I knew what I was having. I of course replied that I am having a girl....I knew something was wrong when he didn't respond and just paused looking at my chart. Then he told me the doctor's office had written "male".....to which I screamed "BUT THEY TOLD ME I AM HAVING A GIRL!!!". I really hope I didn't scream that, but I think I did say it rather loudly. He assured me they would call and that it was probably just a typo (what kind of typo is that??!!). When he left the room to ask one of the nurses to call, Peaches, the wonderful woman who does ultrasounds in my doctor's office (yes, that's really her name) overheard and said she would do a scan immediately to check things out. So, Peaches saved me from a complete breakdown when she checked and confirmed that we are indeed still having Abigail. I think Peaches was as relieved as I was because I warned her that I was going to cry if it was a boy instead. While I would love another boy, I have had my heart set on a girl for almost 3 months now since finding out, and a room painted and ready for a little girl! And once I got the girl conrfirmation, Peaches even took the time to get some cute pictures of Abigail's face, and it was so exciting to see my baby girl!!! I can't wait to meet her soon and this just made me all the more excited :-)

Why go to the pool when....

Luke has become much more vocal lately, especially when expressing his opinion on yes/no questions. This makes life much easier sometimes, such as when asking if he is hungry, wants to play with a certain toy, etc. So this morning we didn't have much going on and I asked Luke if he wanted to go to the pool...and to my great surprise he said NO! Honestly, I wasn't too disappointed as I preferred to play around the house, which is exactly what we have been doing. Besides, why would you want to go to the pool when you could ......

Go swimming in the sandbox?

Or, practice your "cheesy smile" while swinging?

Or, what seemed to be Luke's favorite today, jumping on an empty box!!

2 year update

I took Luke to the doctor for his 2 year check-up this week (I mainly post this for myself so I remember what his stats were). He was 33 pounds (95th %) and 37.5 inches tall (off the charts!)....we thought Luke suddenly was able to reach things further up, now we know why. The doctor told us not to stress about potty training (thank goodness, I am not even thinking about it yet!!) or the fact that he isn't talking too much yet, he is definitely making progress in saying more words though. Other than that, everything was great and he doesn't need a check-up for a whole year!

Happy 2nd Birthday Luke!!!

Wow, I cannot believe Luke is 2 today! This year has flown by and we have had so much fun with him. Luke has changed so much this year, he started walking, talking and definitely developing quite the little personality. Luke has 2 speeds - on and off! We love his fun loving and energetic personality.....he may be difficult to keep up with, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Luke has developed his own interests, he still loves books, loves cartoons and pretty much any toy that allows him to hit things! (hammers and baseball bats are some of his favorites!). Luke loves to go outside and can spot a park a mile away, or a ChuckECheese for that matter. He can devour mexican food like you wouldn't believe (particularly salsa and beans) and also loves to give goodnight hugs and kisses. Vic and I love him so much and because of Luke we look even more forward to the birth of our daughter in a few months so we can treasure these beginning years all over again. Luke will be a wonderful big brother and we are so blessed to be his parents. Happy birthday Luke!!!!

All of Luke's grandparents came over this evening and we took Luke to his favorite location to celebrate his birthday - ChuckECheese!

Luke occasionally stops to actually play a game!

Luke with his new train table from Grandma and Granddad.....where did they think we were going to put this??? Luke loves it already and seemed to know exactly what to do with the train.

Luke surrounded by his pile of birthday presents.....thank goodness this will give us some new toys to keep us entertained to survive the summer heat!

Luke blew out his own candle, and then really enjoyed eating his cake!!

4th of July

Well, we didn't really spend our weekend doing any traditional 4th of July activities, but we did get a lot done and had lots of fun! We took Luke to the zoo on thursday, it was great because there was no one there (probably because it was so miserably hot!), but we were able to just let Luke run wherever he wanted....that works well for him. On Friday, Vic's parents came over to help paint Luke and Abby's rooms. We also moved furniture around and officially put Luke in his "big boy" bed. He seems to like it, we didn't know what he would think of a pillow and sheets after 2 years of nothing but a fitted sheet in his crib! We also blew up a larger pool for the backyard, thinking Luke would love this like he does the toddler pool at our neighborhood pool, but he just liked jumping in and out of it.

I'll post more tomorrow when we celebrate Luke's 2nd birthday - I cannot believe my baby is going to be 2!!

Getting Abby's room ready....I am not used to all this pink and purple!
